About Linda: Linda was born on March 3, 1945 in Eureka, California, and her maiden name was Linda Louise Larsen. Her father's employer transfered him a lot, so she spent her younger years in Chicago and nearby cities, and in Summit, New Jersey. She was always drawing, from her earliest years. Her art teachers at Summit High in New Jersey, and at York Community High in Elmhurst, IL, were very supportive, and she won competitions painting with water media in a realistic vein. She began oil painting, moving into colorful abstract expressionism. One of her paintings, Slide, was included in a juried exhibition at the University of Wisconsin (circa 1964) while she was an undergraduate there. She moved to Berkeley in 1967, and continued painting while employed at UC, sharing encouragement and criticism with other oil painters. Once she became a San Francisco attorney with a hectic practice, it was difficult to fit in oil painting, so she occasionally pursued other crafts such as china painting with friends, and promised herself to get back to art eventually, collecting art in the meantime. For the past several years she has lived exclusively in Bodega Bay, California, and has devoted a substantial portion of her time to art. This includes the gallery with her husband that specializes in Early California Art, art organizations and personal associations with other painters, workshop participation, and now returning to painting in oils, this time mixing or alternating between realistic and stylized, somewhat abstract landscape themes. Her debut/reemergence show is being set on the schedule of the Local Color Gallery in Bodega Bay. TOP
