We have not found any information about an artist named E. L. Marshall. We believe this painting is not the work of an amateur.

We may have a possible candidate. There was a California artist named Laura Elizabeth Marshall 1873 - 1933 who came to California in 1903 after having studied art at the Boston and Detroit Museum Schools, Columbia University and at U. C. Berkeley. She taught art in the public schools for twenty-seven years, and died in San Francisco in 1933. We are hoping to find some information about her and possibly link her to this work.
