Elizabeth's father, Berthhold Hoen is part of Sonoma County history. He opened a trading post in the Carillo Adobe in Sonoma Valley, and helped lay out the plan for the city of Santa Rosa.

Elizabeth kept a studio in Los Angeles. She died at the Santa Rosa Hotel in 1955. In 1917, she exhibited at the San Francisco Art Association. Her works are included in the collection of the Grace Hudson Museum in Ukiah, California, and in the Sonoma County Museum in Santa Rosa.
