Anna Hefner 1875 - 1966
![]() |
Clouds, Eucalyptus, and Ranch Sheds Eugene, Oregon Oil on Canvas, 20 x 24 $1,800 |
Anna Hefner was born in Iowa in 1875 and passed away at the age of ninety in Escondido, California in 1966. She was a member of the Women Painters of the West, and had a solo exhibition of her works with the Hollywood Women's Club in 1940. She studied at the Otis Art Institute with John H. Rich, and also with Anna Hills and Edgar Payne in Laguna Beach. Subjects for her paintings were drawn from her extensive travels. Although we have no documentation to support this observation, the trees in this Hefner painting suggest a possible influence of another her contemporaries, Sam Hyde Harris.
